Family Newsletter 6/9/25

Hello Maverick Nation. We are really swinging into high gear here at McClure – moving through our end of year activities and keeping kids engaged and learning even as temperatures rise!  Students are working on projects, assessments, and expectations to be present, respectful…and have a little fun along the way. Thank you for partnering with us to set end of year behavior expectations and help our kids meet them! 😊

Thank you to our families, PTSA, staff, and volunteers who supported the McClure Science Fair, Mariner’s Field Trip, sports teams, and Clubs. There are so many awesome happenings occurring with the support of the McClure Community.

Congrats to the Track Team!

The McClure Track team took 1st place at the district meet this past Saturday. Amazing effort and commitment by all our athletes. Shout outs to the Girls Volleyball teams for an amazing season and Boys Soccer! So much to celebrate. Thank you to the many coaches!

8th Grade News

We are very excited for our upcoming 8th grade celebrations!

8th Grade Promotion – Wednesday, June 11th from 5:30 – 6:30pm.

8th Grade PTSA Dance – Wednesday, June 11th following promotion from 6:30-8:00 pm in the McClure Gym.

Here’s what parents and guardians need to know –

• 8th Promotion –
  Students will be walking around the perimeter of the school. We encourage all families to also surround the perimeter of the school so as our students are walking there are parents and guardians cheering them on from every part of the school.
• 8th Grade Dance –
  Our PTSA is hosting the 8th grade dance. You should receive a permission slip today that must be signed and returned to the school office by Wednesday, June 11th.

Note: We will also take permission slips directly from parents / guardians the day of Promotion to attend the Dance.

• Please pre-arrange with your student how they will be going home as there will be no transportation for after the dance.
• Please be prompt with your pickup, the dance will end at 8pm sharp and students will be asked to exit the building so our custodial engineers can do their job.

We look forward to seeing you all and are excited to celebrate your students!

End of Year Activities – Privilege not a Right.

Assemblies, Field Day (last day of school), 8th Grade Dance, 8th grade Beach Day (Thursday, June 12th)

We love celebrating our kids and having fun with them! 😊We have many activities happening.  We have reminded our Maverick students that these are privileges not rights. If students are not demonstrating basic and reasonable expectations (including kindness and respectfulness towards peers and adults), they will not be allowed to participate.  We hope to not have to apply this consequence to any students, but we do want to remind them that we expect them to show Pride for the remainder of the school year and to earn the fun that comes at the end. We have shared these expectations with students already but please check in with your McClure student about this so they are clear.
