Hello Maverick Nation!
Class Registration for 2023-24 School Year for Current 6th and 7th Graders!
Woo-Hoo! We are already starting the registration process for the 2023-24 school year for our current 6th and 7th graders! In middle school, students don’t have a ton of choices to make. Mainly our 6th and 7th grade scholars can choose to register for our wonderful music program (choir or band) and our current 7th graders can additionally register for Spanish (high school credit). The counselors are started the registration process Wednesday in students’ Science classes.
Please look at the attached document and discuss class preferences with your McClure student. We will do our best to accommodate requests made by students.
As a parent/guardian, you can log into the Source this week to see what classes your student selected. Once logged in to the Source click on the Class Registration Icon on the left side of the screen. Only the student can make changes to their course requests when logged in as a student. Parent/Guardians cannot make changes – they can only view the requests made.
MCCLURE PAPER PALOOZA
Thank you to those who have already participated SO generously in our Paper Palooza fundraiser! Here are the deets!! (We love getting reems/boxes of paper from Amazon! Feel free to have delivered to our school! (1915 1st Ave. W., Seattle, WA 98119) 😊
Join the McClure Paper Drive March 13th through March 27th!
Yes, we still use paper! McClure Staff does its best to conserve it, including re-using paper, double sided printing and general reduction in use. However, there is simply less money for office supplies and our paper is one of the top budget essentials schools need to get through June!
If you would like to participate – bring or send in a ream of copy/printer paper to the McClure office from March 13th through March 27th. Accepting size 8.5 x 11, 8.5 x 14, and 11 x 17
Teacher Learning Walks:
Thought I would just share with you some details about our professional development this year. Our teachers have had a few iterations of Learning Walks last year and this year with the intention of getting used to being in each others’ classrooms and learning from one another. It is a high leverage and research-based practice that has shown to support schools’ academic and climate success across the country/world and across the decades. Our focus this year is on student engagement and our on-going professional development and learning walks have emphasized this. We are upping our Learning Walk “game” in the next few weeks and I am so excited! Each department member will be observing members of their own department and presenting a lesson to their own students while their departmental peers observe; each McClure department is focusing on a common engagement strategy that they want to improve. They will take notes, collaborate before and after and then make some decisions as a department as to how to hone this strategy to better engage our scholars. Just thought you would like to know how awesome our staff is and their growth mindset in ongoing improvement for our kids!

- NOTE:
- As information becomes available to me throughout the year (regarding schedules, events, sign-ups, who coaches are etc.) I will email specific information out when I have it. Chances are, if I have not sent anything out, I most likely do not know the answer to your question regarding those topics. The district does not support middle school athletics in the same manner as high school athletics, and it takes longer for information to be provided to middle schools.
If you have any further questions, please email me at brtocci@seattleschools.org.
That’s all from me, GO MAVS!!!
