Writer coaching is an exciting new program this year at McClure, pairing adult volunteers with 8th grade Language Arts students to provide one-on-one support to every student in the class.

Approximately every other week, students meet with their assigned coach for 10-15 minutes to work on a current writing assignment.

Starting March 9, sessions will take place in Ms. Pattison's room (222) on select Thursday afternoons during 5th (1:19 - 2:15) and 6th period (2:19 - 3:15).

Coaches may choose to support students in one or both classes, but must commit to their choice at the beginning of the spring session.

Second semester coaching dates are 3/9, 3/23, 4/6, 4/27, 5/25, and 6/8.

Any adult member of the community who is proficient in speaking and writing in English may train to become a volunteer coach - no teaching or professional editing/writing experience is required.

Interested? Contact Kim Gonzales at kimgonzales@hotmail.com for more information and to schedule a volunteer training session.
